Coucou French Bistro Opens in West Hollywood

French bistro, opened a West Hollywood location on Wednesday, March 27, at 9045 Santa Monica Blvd, in the former home of Crustica Pizza. The new WeHo restaurant, situated at the Beverly Hills gateway, is a followup to Coucou Venice.

Coucou WeHo is an 75-seat, indoor-outdoor establishment tucked away on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Nemo Street. The restaurant offers a welcome respite from the outside world where guests can expect perfectly prepared martinis with freshly shucked oysters at a stunning marble-topped bar and wood-fired French favorites on a sun-dappled, star jasmine-lined patio.

“We offer a California French-inspired Bistro, classic French drinks and cocktails with classic French culinary items that are served in a California vibe,” said Derek, a manager at Coucou “We have our location in Venice, so this is our second location.”

According to Derek, owners Jesse and Hayley Feldman, are fans of the City of West Hollywood. They are friends with the owners of Great White restaurant on Melrose Ave. “They thought our brand translated very well to this area,” he said. “We’re right by Beverly Hills. That’s kind of a part of our brand over in Venice as well, in that we’re right on the border of Venice and Santa Monica. They really love this location. We don’t have an outdoor patio in Venice, so it kind of feels a little bit more removed and a little more of a neighborhood eats, which is also our vibe in Venice. So yeah, it’s a perfect blend of everything.

Bouchon alum Chef Jacob Wetherington is taking advantage of the sizable kitchen by expanding the dinner menu, introducing weekend brunch, and making the beloved off-the-menu Straus Organic Creamery soft serve sundae a permanent fixture on Coucou West Hollywood’s menu. Coucou regulars may take note of menu additions like a classic tarte flambé and seasonal pastas like a Dungeness crab rigatoni with espelette chile and citrus tomato butter to accompany French apéritifs and low-intervention glasses of wine. At brunch, don’t miss warm croissants with seasonal jam; a Croque Soigne with Paris ham, royale trumpet mushrooms, gruyere, mornay, and a sunny side up egg; made-to-order buckwheat crepes; and, of course, a quintessential rolled French omelette with optional caviar.

Eater Los Angeles reports that the owners opened the first Coucou in Venice in 2023 and always thought that West Hollywood would be an ideal second location. The Feldmans reimagined the prime location to seat 45 in the main room and another 30 on the patio.

Current hours for Coucou West Hollywood are 5pm-11pm, Monday-Thursday, 5pm-12am on Friday, 11am-2pm and 5pm-12am, on Saturday, and 11am-2pm and 5pm-11pm on Sunday.

I wish them the best of luck. That has been a very difficult location for restaurants to survive. I went on their website but was shocked to not see prices for any items other than an automatic 20% fee charge tat goes to the employees. This means you don’t have to tip on top of what the restaurant fee is.

We went here the other night. The food isn’t great. The staff didn’t know the table numbers and delivered our food to the wrong table. They did this for several tables and one table had been there two hours without receiving their food.

I find it despicable that some of the restaurant additional fees or included tip. I get it if it’s party of six and more.. but if there is a date and you don’t get a great service or your food is bad, that should reflect the tip.. I also find it when there is an automatic tip. The staff meaning waiters are not as accommodating as if you had to pay a check that you write your own tip.. I usually tip 25% for excellent service.. and when I see extra fees I find it despicable and I feel like… Read more »

At this point with the minimum wage what it is and the extra fees restaurants attached to checks, tipping should be eliminated in the City Of West Hollywood. Do as the Europeans do.

Or how about just eliminating extra fees.

Tipping cannot just be eliminated in one small city. It’s ingrained in American culture unfortunately.

Do you ever think before you type?
