The City of West Hollywood and its Women’s Advisory Board are hosting a community screening of the award-winning digital series ‘How to Hack Birth Control’, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, 4pm – 6pm, at the West Hollywood City Council Chambers, located at West Hollywood Park, 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Admission is free.
Written and directed by Sassy Mohen, ‘How to Hack Birth Control’ is a comedy digital series on how to navigate and take charge in today’s contraception universe. The story is told through the sharp wit and perky charm of the narrator Ruth. “How to Hack Birth Control” takes a run at a hit list of what you’re “not supposed to talk about” and “all of the things women want to know but are taught to be too afraid to ask.”
Scenarios include:
- How do you get the morning after pill quickly and for free?
- Where can you hide your birth control?
- How do you get your doctor to listen to you?
Filled with backpack cats, patriotic eagles, musical numbers and the game show, ‘Let’s Not Make a Baby,’ each memorable contraceptive milestone is a riotous new discovery. Hailed as “wickedly funny,” and “charmingly scathing,” by Indie Shorts Magazine, ‘How to Hack Birth Control,’ will make you wonder what else sex-ed never told you.
The cast includes: Xanthe Paige, Jackie R. Jacobson, Aisha Renee Holden, Cynthia San Luis, Lauren Elizabeth Harris, Brooke Ashley Rose Johnson, Garrison Oliver Gross, Dash Kennedy Williams, Micaela Martinez and Spring Inés Peña.
After the screening there will be a lively question and answer segment with the filmmaker and members of the cast. They will share experiences and discuss topics on body autonomy and sexual health. The event will also include refreshments, giveaways, raffle prizes and other health and other wellness information.
