According to reports in the Citizen App, Chi Chi LaRue’s Adult Entertainment Store in West Hollywood, located at 8861 Santa Monica Boulevard, was burglarized Saturday evening.
Police advised that a suspect was last seen running northbound on Larrabee Street from Santa Monica Boulevard at roughly 7:56pm.
Updates on Citizen state that officers advised the public that the suspect stole an unknown amount of cash from the business. Police were searching for one man in the burglary. The doors were intact and locked with a cleaning crew inside by 8:24pm. The store normally closes at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
According to a source, sex toys were also taken and possibly poppers. Dildos to be exact, but that has yet to be confirmed as well as the nature of the robbery. It is believed one individual ran in the store, took cash and sex toys and ran up Larrabee.
West Hollywood City Council will consider increasing the number of Block by Block Security Ambassadors in the City’s business districts during the holiday season to promote enhanced community safety as more residents and visitors patronize the City’s commercial areas. The City Council will also consider reinstating the Entertainment Policing Team Sergeant and Deputy that were reduced in fiscal year 2020-21 due to COVID-19 budget reductions.
According to the city’s staff report in the council agenda for the council meeting on December 20, the increased security will promote community safety in the city’s business district during they holiday season when more residents and visitors patronize WeHo’s commercial areas.
The report addresses the recent high-profile robberies around the Los Angeles region and the state at high-end boutiques and stores. There have also been a number of incidents in the City of West Hollywood where individuals have been targeted for robberies. West Hollywood residents and businesses have expressed concerns about this public safety issue, as well as what appears to be an increase in violent crimes in the region.
