    Cher, Carol Burnett, Pink and RuPaul Show Up in Support of Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion Documentary

    The Paley Center for Media hosted a special world premiere screening of the documentary “Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion” by Matthew Miel at the Directors Guild of America, located at 7920 Sunset Blvd. The night was billed as a legendary evening featuring award-winning costume designer Bob Mackie, alongside Carol Burnett, RuPaul Charles, Cher, and a surprise appearance by pop singing sensation Pink, who walked the red carpet and participated in a panel discussion after the screening.

    During the Q&A session, Pink discussed her experience working with Bob Mackie on some of her shows. Carol Burnett credited the designer for contributing to some of her most iconic moments on the Carol Burnett Show, while RuPaul Charles shared his lifelong dream of collaborating with Mackie on his own shows.

    However, it was singer and Academy Award winner Cher who captivated the audience with anecdotes of her collaborations with Mackie on the Sonny and Cher show, concerts, music videos, and The Cher Show musical, among others. She recounted her first meeting with Bob Mackie and shared other stories from their collaboration.

Featuring stellar contributions from Mr. Mackie’s creative collaborators including Carol Burnett, Cher, Mitzi Gaynor, RuPaul Charles, Bernadette Peters, Pink, and Miley Cyrus, as well as fashion icons Tom Ford, Zac Posen, and more, the inspired and inspiring film traces Mr. Mackie’s life on and off screen and illuminates the global impact of his artistry on television, film, Broadway and concert stages, and within fashion and popular culture.
