Should the City of West Hollywood bring back the WeHo Halloween Carnaval? Are you a business owner who is impacted by the event that closes Santa Monica Boulevard from La Cienega Boulevard to Doheny Drive? Are you a community member who wants to resurrect the annual event that attracts massive crowds to WeHo on Halloween night? A survey and a petition launched yesterday asking to bringing back Halloween to WeHo.
West Hollywood business community members are encouraged to take a survey to let the city know about the value of the annual Halloween event and how it impacts their business. The survey is only 15 questions long.
As it currently stands, the West Hollywood City Council has no plans in the works for a 2023 Halloween Carnaval event, but input from the businesses can change that. Participation in this survey will provide essential insight on the impact that Halloween events and related support services have on local business operations in West Hollywood. This will help the City to develop strategies to better support local businesses during Halloween.

For the general public who want their voices heard, community member Mitch Swan started a petition to “TELL WEHO CITY COUNCIL TO BRING BACK HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL!!!”
The petition reads as follows:
“The last time West Hollywood and its residents were able to enjoy one of the most beloved events in our city was back in 2019. Then COVID hit, and everyone understood the cancellation of large events due to the pandemic. However, City Council has taken that opportunity to continuously cancel the beloved Halloween Carnival for the last 3 years (without holding even one city hall meeting) and continued to put back on other major events, including WeHo Pride. City Council members complained to constituents and to the media that the event was too large to coordinate, too much of a headache to plan, and said it cost way too much money.
Despite the thousands of outcries from West Hollywood residents and businesses, they continue to cancel the carnival. Tell City Council that they need to bring back the most loved Halloween tradition in our city. It’s time to bring money back into our businesses, bring fun back into our city, and for City Council to start doing their jobs and listening to their constituents.”
The petition launched yesterday and currently has 33 signatures as of the posting of this piece.
