Apparently she isn’t very popular in West Hollywood. She received less than 250 votes from people in West Hollywood for her failed run for Congress. If she can’t even get 250 votes that doesn’t say much for her support. Hopefully she accomplishes great things after she leaves politics.

She was born an LGBTQ+ Iranian Muslim Woman of Color who has NOT accepted the FACT that there exists a significant section of the population that’s quite vocal & reactionary that she has a ZERO% chance of winning over because, their bigotry & ignorance defines who they are. Her ONLY path to a decisive victory is a strong unapologetic progressive who is completely unwilling to back down from a fight and, she avoided this option that would of helped her. She is a Highly Educated Attorney who needs use her skills to organize some serious support and outshine AOC❗✌

Not to belabor the past, but current events prompt reminding— Sepi’s own political maneuvering cost her a lot of “progressive” credibility before she was elected. I remember during her campaign she maligned Duran as antisemitic for voting alongside Meister to show a film about the Nakba. Years later, and after voting for the problematic IHRA definition of antisemitism, being the face of CIA Iranian regime change op “Women Life Freedom”, being whisked away to Israel for a “fact finding” all expense paid trip, and signing onto every one of Weho’s ridiculous war mongering “decrees”, Sepi still faced the smear of… Read more »

You are very right but, I wanted to go easy on her to give her a chance to be something more than just a sell out to zionism and western imperialism. Do notice how those forces she sold out to are NOT running to her defense.

It’s a great day for the City of West Hollywood. In time, the community can heal from this dismal time in history. One down, two more to go. Problem is very few qualified candidates are stepping up to run.

Shameful grifter wants to be a full time snake-oil saleswoman. Sickening that she conned her way into our city government and did so much harm. Good riddance!!

Well soon you will need to find a new villain, but I am sure that will just be the next person elected to the council by a majority.

Public office definitely had a toll on Sepi. You could tell towards the end of her term as Mayor. I think she is more sensitive than John Erickson or Lindsey Horvath. I’m glad she is looking out for herself.

I have no doubt this next council election will get very ugly. There are certain past failed candidates that enjoy fanning the flames in this city. It’s very sad.

Sepi announces she is not running again on the day Iran attacks Israel. No one aside from the local blogs will be talking about this. Coincidence? Or strategy?

Sepi’s health seemed to suffer the last year, which concerned everyone even her most ardent detractors. I hope she finds healing and peace, and may West Hollywood heal the divisions among us that we are still dealing with.

Sepi Shyne was the first person to be Mayor who actually left the position less popular than when she started. Sepi made herself a polarizing figure, the intersectionality of arrogance and ignorance. Her unrelenting sense of victim-hood was tedious in the extreme. The final act of self-delusion was her run for Congress. Many of Sepi’s supporters felt betrayed by her complete lack of respect for the needs or concerns of actual residents of West Hollywood. At her installation for Mayor she surrounded herself with over the top praise singers whose main purpose seemed to stoke her ego and brought a… Read more »

Who can blame her for not running? There were the threats to her life, the barrage of hateful attacks by her political opponent turned gossip rag owner, there was a divorce, and more personal attacks by friends of political opponents who bought gossip rag and a sad voter turnout in West Hollywood in the last election. She’s endured a lot. She’ll be better off. Maybe even happier.

And I’ll take that win. Our city is far better off without her. Her policies have hurt this city beyond measure. And for those that blindly follow and never find fault in any decision she ever made (yes you and your ilk) are as guilty as she is. Now it’s time for my happy dance.(and I’m not dancing alone!)

I have to say it is a bit of a surprise to me because even though she failed so miserably for her run for Congress- so much so that her own residents of her own city didn’t vote for her in large numbers -i would have thought that her delusions of grandeur and her ego would make her run again. Happy that she has seen the light and realized she wouldn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. She saved herself a lot of embarrassment and she saved the city from further decline from her disastrous policies that she forced upon… Read more »

She made history as the first lesbian Iranian woman of color to get elected to office. She made her stamp on the City and she still has more than half a year to go so we should brace ourselves.

What matters most is the content of her character not the color of her skin. A wise man one said this and we should all remember it.

    • This should be a lesson for the city, no first term councilperson should be eligible for position of mayor and vice mayor. Responsibility, even ceremonial must be earned and some semblance of city government experience and leadership should be a pre-requisite. We are seeing reruns of this type of irresponsible behaviors now with Erickson and Byers. The city is the priority NOT personal agendas.

Everyone gets to be mayor in their four year term. Are you saying the incumbents should be mayor multiple years? That makes no sense.

Grateful for this announcement. I’m not sure what extraordinary thing Shyne has done other than polarize the city, berate employees and demean residents, but I’m thankful she will not return to council after this term. Very thankful.
