Bora Sushi, located at 8729 Santa Monica Blvd, is re-opening after some obstacles forced them to shut them down for almost five months this past spring. The sushi restaurant, which will also offer Korean dishes, signed a lease back 2019, and then the pandemic hit, so it has taken them years to open.
They finally had a grand opening celebration on April 18, 2023. Mayor Sepi Shyne presented them with a certificate of recognition, acknowledging their business in the city of West Hollywood, and after operating for about a week, they closed and stayed closed for several months. A note posted on their door stated that they would open soon, but that note was removed and it didn’t look promising for the restaurant. Many thought it would be the shortest-lived business in West Hollywood.

However, David Kim, the chef and owner of Bora Sushi, tells WEHO TIMES that they are back and are officially opening on Friday, September 22. This time it’s for good.
He said that after throwing their grand opening party, they learned that they needed a special permit to host events and play music. “I’ve worked in West Hollywood for several years, and I was not aware that we needed like six other permits to operate, so we had to take care of that,” he said. “We also had piping issues that needed to be taken care of, but we’re all good now and starting next Friday we’ll be open seven days a week.”
“We specialize in sushi,” said David back in April. “I’ve been a chef for about 23 years, but we also have a couple of dishes that will be Korean. We want to provide a space that is accessible. We’d like people to come and lounge and work on their laptops and be comfortable.”
