Barry’s Bootcamp Gets Approval to Move to Old Aaron Brothers Space

Barry’s bootcamp health and fitness studio is moving to a new location. During its teleconference meeting held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, the West Hollywood Planning Commission approved to allow Barry’s to move to the old old Aaron Brother’s framing and art supplies space, located at 8380 Santa Monica Boulevard.

Barry’s new home is a 20,866-square-foot parcel with a 70-foot frontage on the west wide of Kings Road and 162-foot frontage facing the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard, at the northeast corner of Santa Monica Boulevard in between Kings Road and Flores Street. The property is owned by the City of West Hollywood and is developed with a ground commercial space of 7,980 square feet and a three-story public parking structure constructed in 1995. The public parking structure contains 165 parking spaces with the entrance/exit on Kings Road. The proposed health/fitness facility will occupy the ground floor tenant space previously occupied by Aaron Brother’s framing and art supplies store, with the main entrance fronting Santa Monica Boulevard. The proposed change of use would not alter the size or massing of the existing building and will only consist of interior remodeling with no plans for façade improvements.

Barry’s currently has over 90 locations worldwide including the first location at 1106 La Cienega in West Hollywood. The proposed project includes a “fuel bar” in the center of the 7,980 square-foot floor plan that would sell packaged foods and drinks, and a small retail area adjacent to the lobby. The proposal also features two locker rooms with showers and two large main workout areas.

The health/fitness facility focuses on instructor-led, class setting workouts with each class averaging 50-60 minutes. All activities will occur within the tenant space.

Barry’s will installs soundproofing in its workout rooms. The Commission will review the space three months after it opens, which should be some time towards the end of 2021.

Barry’s bootcamp health and fitness studio has been operating at its current location in West Hollywood since 1998. It is currently open for outdoor classes.
