Animal Rights Activists Crash Louis Vuitton Opening in West Hollywood

Animal Rights activists of the Los Angeles Animal Defense League (ADL) and the Uncompromised Action for Animals crashed the grand opening of the Louis Vuitton pop-up retail store in the city of West Hollywood on Thursday, January 4. The French luxury label featuring Pharrell Williams’ debut collection, was confronted for their alleged sale of fur.

Protesters arrived at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Robertson Boulevard, at approximately 10:30 a.m.. They showed up with bullhorns, they distributed fliers, held up signs, and chanted in defense of animals who they say are being slaughtered for fashion.

“Sheriffs were called by an LV manager regarding activists trespassing onto their property,” a spokesperson at ADL told WEHO TIMES. “Management and employees at LV were laughing and smiling at us through their windows and dancing to mock our chants.”

According to our source, customers entering the building were annoyed by the protesters, but they were all smiles as they left the store. “One couple who left the store stood at the crosswalk awkwardly waiting to cross the street. We took this opportunity to outreach and they left with literature.”

Annoyed customers aside, they also received some support from cars passing by. “The public was surprisingly supportive. Lots of honks and ppl hollering ‘Good Job!’ from their vehicle.”

One local and his dog joined the protest. He took one of their signs and chanted with them for the remainder of the event (see photo below), while his dog posed for photos.

According to a statement by the Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade (CAFT), “LVMH is the largest corporation in Europe. Its founder, Bernard Arnault, is the third richest person on the planet. LVMH controls 75 different brands, of which 14 are fashion brands. Those that use fur are Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Loro Piana, and Berluti, but others that have refused to announce a fur-free policy include Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Celine, and Loewe. All are responsible for the terror and torture propagated by LVMH…There is no question that the future is fur-free. The question is just how quickly these companies will join the rest of their industry. However long, rest assured that CAFT will be there, escalating the fight against fur until total victory.”

The rep ADL says they plan to return to the LV in WeHo in the near future. “None of us is getting paid to do this and we get mocked often by counter protestors at these demos,” said the rep. “All we want is more people to be aware of the extreme animal cruelty that’s happening every second of the day.”

Next stop: Marc Jacobs. They say MJ is back to selling fur and is falsely claiming that their fur is faux, when in fact, it is real.

What wimps as well as sadistic jerks these companies are! They cage the animals where they go crazy to then be anally or vaginally electrocuted or trap them where they suffer for days. Only frigid women & impotent men wear fur! This isn’t fashion; it’s faSHUN! Do not participate please!

Had the LV any Blood Fashion Fur items in the new WeHo shop? It’s illegal to sell Blood Fashion Fur in all of California.

Grateful that people were speaking up against this bloody industry. The comments are amusing, it clearly shows the ignorance. Asking nicely is not what gets it done.

Was the protest sponsored by the Unite union? Did all the protestors show up in their Tesla’s with their leather seats?

Your implication that these ARAs are hypocrites is unfounded. What you’re trying to do is called transference…an attempt to detract from your own miserable actions by implicating someone else. No they didn’t.

Bernard Arnault is laughing all the way to the bank. Nobody is buying real furs in WEHO. Yes, many of these people are hypocrites.

I love animals! But I also love all the drama! When I saw all this chaos going on I quickly ran home grab a sable fur coat check out my T-shirt put on a bra and the fur coat over it , and then I took off my running shorts and put on a jockstrap to complete my look came down the street again and join them and even asked to borrow a bull horn to speak on it which they gladly gave me and nobody realized I was wearing a real for a coat!!!!!!

Help Is available. What you’re trying to do is be offensive and to distract from the issue. This has nothing to do with your personal issues and really no one cares about them in this conversation. You’re not in the spotlight, except in your own mind.

Your actions are extremely immature. And if you “love animals” you wouldn’t have a real sable coat. You sound confused.

Making people aware of your cause is fine. Using smoke flares, not respecting property and screaming at people through bullhorns is not. You want people to support your cause..don’t act like the animals you’re trying to save.

You clearly don’t know how pressure campaigns work. Activists are not there to be liked but to disrupt their business. You really think being polite is gonna stop the bloody fur trade? Don’t be naive. Please educate yourself before making another ignorant comment.

You’re not gonna get people behind your cause if you piss them off. Common sense. But since you’re the type that uses personal attacks I can see why you support these people and their tactics.

He’s the 2nd richest man in the world. Do you really think he cares about your protest in West Hollywood? LOL. Go find something more productive to do. Go get educated and find a cure for cancer or figure out a way to help transition homeless people back into society. Fur protests are so 1990’s.

Compassion is the most important need for the entire world. You should educate yourself about it. A culture of torture and murder of any species, for any purpose, especially greed reflects a sickness in our own species. Whether for ethical reasons or sustainability issue, the future is by necessity, vegan.

If you want to be a vegan then by all means you should do that. I’m not giving up my Wagyu ribeyes. Animals kill other animals for food. Are you going to go have a protest in a national park against animals who kill other animals? Are you upset with the lions and tigers and bears? Oh my! Where does this end?

Yes, pressure campaigns work great. That is why we ended up with Donald Trump and will probably end up with him again thanks to you left wing extremists. Nice work. I hope you love all the Trump appointed judges who hate animals and who hate gay people and who hate women. Your tactics seem to be an overwhelming success. Congrats.

We really need to address the language around animals. To use colloquial expressions such as “acting like an animal” is negative. Or to say you’re acting like a pig” and such, reflects archaic thinking and ignorance about animal behavior. It also perpetuates a negative mindset about animals.
