AKT WeHo Celebrates One Year with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for AKT WeHo fitness located at 7111 Santa Monica Boulevard on Saturday, May 16, 2022. The event was in celebration of the studio’s one-year anniversary. West Hollywood Mayor Lauren Miester presented the business with a certificate of recognition and officially welcomed the business to the City of West Hollywood a year after their official opening.

The WeHo Chamber commended AKT WeHo for surviving their first year despite opening during the COVID-19 pandemic. They acknowledged their hardships and wanted to give them a proper ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate their milestone.

“The community and our members are amazing,” said Brian Gelt who owns AKT WeHo with his wife Pana Gelt. “They are so special to us, and every day when we were frustrated in the middle of COVID, you all made it worth it. Thank you.”

AKT is named after the Anna Keiser’s trendy workout program which combines dance cardio, HIIT and toning. The high-intensity classes incorporate a foam-rolling cool down to help ease sore muscles.

AKT WeHo features four group class formats that deliver an effective total body workout focused on low-impact, high-intensity movements that lift and tone muscles and improve strength, agility and flexibility for every body:

    • DANCE (60 minutes) – The class alternates between choreographed dance sections and short strength intervals, putting muscle and cardio endurance to the test. AKT methodically breaks down each step to make sure members learn the entire dance by the end of the class, burning out every muscle and leaving you feeling elated after this high-energy interval workout.
    • TONE (60 minutes) – This workout pairs full-body strength with smaller isolated contractions to burn out large and intrinsic muscles on every plane of motion. The class finishes with a guided foam roll section to actively release the burn and aid in recovery before your next workout.
    • BANDS (60 minutes) – In this class, you’ll get your heart rate up, with extra support and buoyancy, as you perform some of your favorite sports based exercises with the stability of a box. Alternating between functional cardio and longer strength intervals, this workout will challenge your body on all planes of motion, as you focus on balance, agility, and the full-body conditioning.
    • CIRCUIT (45 minutes) – This is a full body circuit training class. Build lean muscle mass by combining plyometric full body power exercises, with medium weight compound strength movements in 30 second and 15 second intervals.
