The WeHo Park Aquatics and Recreation Center is the culmination of a vision for the master plan of West Hollywood Park. The new community and recreation center consolidates all the previous park park program into one facility, creating the largest contiguous piece of open space in the city. A rooftop pool deck features a competition pool and a recreation pool with sweeping views of Hollywood and Los Angeles. Directly below the two rooftop pools is a two court gymnasium. The balance of the includes community meeting rooms, a daycare, staff offices, a TV studio, and automated parking. A grand stair lets people connect from the park to the roof deck and access the pools.
As the project nears the completion of construction, this will be an early preview of the Aquatic and Recreation Center given by the project designers. The discussion on the tour will highlight how the community contributed to and drove the development of the project.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will understand how community feedback drove the design of the project.
2. Participants will learn the sustainable strategies that lead to this LEED Gold design.
3. Participants will learn the structural and seismic implications of adding two swimming pools on the roof of a four-story building.
4. Participants will learn how the West Hollywood Park Master Plan and the context of the adjacent library and parking structures influenced the project outcomes.
The Tour will be lead by Rick D’Amato, FAIA, Design Director, LPA, Inc, an award-winning architect and AIA Fellow and Jeremy Hart, AIA, Director of Civic + Cultural, LPA, Inc.

We have to pay for a tour? Just open the damn park already so the public can view and enjoy. Sheesh!
Yep. Taxpayers paid for it why would we have to pay for a tour? And it’s not an inexpensive tour considering it’s just a tour of a recreational center within a park.
