Abbe Land to be Honored at 8th Annual Hollywood NOW HERstory Awards

Former West Hollywood Mayor and council member Abbe Land will be honored at the 8th Annual Hollywood NOW HERstory Awards & Reception. The community leader and women’s rights champion will be toasted and roasted on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the West Hollywood Library Community Meeting Room, located at 625 North San Vicente Boulevard.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Hollywood NOW hosts the HERstory Awards & Reception each year in March to celebrate the achievements of women in the community.

This year, Hollywood NOW will recognize Abbe Land for her dedication as a fierce fighter for women’s rights and accomplished civic leader.

During her tenure as a Councilmember, she served on the boards of the National League of Cities, Southern California Association of Governments, the Westside Council of Governments, and as President of Women in Municipal Government, as well as policy committees of the League of California Cities. Currently, Abbe serves on the Women Against Gun Violence Advisory Board; the L.A. County Department of Public Health’s Women’s Health Policy Council; Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles Board of Directors; Creative Acts Advisory Board; MAZON’s Public Policy Committee; and the AIDS Community Action Foundation Board of Directors.

In March 2017, she co-founded an Indivisible Los Angeles Chapter: ROAR Resistance. Abbe is a sought-after speaker and moderator, frequently called upon to participate and share her expertise at conferences and seminars nationwide. She has been honored by the West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to affordable housing and by APLA Red Circle Project with a Spirit of CommUNITY Award for her work to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS. Abbe also received the inaugural Legacy Award for Women in Leadership for her advocacy on behalf of women in West Hollywood, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles: Good Neighbor Voice Award 2016 for her support of the LGBTQ community, the 28th Congressional District 2016 Woman of the Year award, the National LGBTQ Task Force: Leadership Excellence Award 2017, the I Love Me Foundation’s Ally of the Year, and the 2017 Southern California Leadership Network Visionary 30 in 30 Award, among numerous other recognitions.
