The 2022 ChrisMess Drag Bar Crawl returned to West Hollywood’s LGBT Rainbow District on the eve of Christmas Eve. This is the 6th annual bar crawl where friends gather at a WeHo bar in some outrageous and messy drag and do a loop up and down Santa Monica Boulevard wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
“We’re doing ChrisMess, which is a chance to throw out all the attitude, the need to be sexy and butch, and just be silly,” organizer Dudley Beene told WEHO TIMES. “We put on the tightest, wildest lady Santa outfits we can find and whoop it up before we have to go hang with our families for Christmas. It’s Christ-Mess and as you’ll see, some of these girls really put the mess in ChrisMess.”
Beene says they took one year off due to the pandemic and they tried their best last year to turn it out even though it was pouring rain and people were still staying home due to the pandemic.
ChristMess started with a random Facebook post inviting friends to go out in drag the night before Christmas Eve. It started out with 30 people and then grew to 50 people, and it just keeps getting bigger. “Since the beginning, people really look forward to it,” he said. “The wilder the, the better. We just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and send people a message to not take themselves too seriously.”
The 2022 Christmas Drag Bar Crawl began at its rightful place this year. The gathering always starts at Mother Lode, but they had to kick it off at Gym Sportsbar and Grill last year because Mother Lode bar was closed due to long repairs that began during the pandemic.
Everyone is invited to join the drag bar crawl every eve of Christmas Eve. It’s the perfect moment drop the WeHo attitude, grab yourself a cheap Christmas dress, paint your face, and go out to the West Hollywood bars with friends. Just dress up and show up. The 2022 ChrisMess gathering is hard to miss on Friday night.
